Meet The Team

Adria Forte, LMHC

Adria Forte graduated from The University of North Florida with her Master of Art in Counseling Psychology in 2008.  She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor with over 17 years of clinical and social services experience in Northeast Florida.  During that time, she has had the pleasure of working with children, adolescents, and adults in various treatment settings.  Her specialties include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Nutritional Psychology.  She believes in a whole-body treatment approach that includes addressing all facets that may be contributing to symptoms and working together to achieve and maintain optimum mental health and wellness.  She will be providing clinical supervision to graduate and post-graduate level interns while overseeing program management at Connections UnPlugged.

Nature is at the core of Adria’s life and practice.  It has offered her the gift of resiliency throughout many challenges in her own life.  She is the mother of a son with autoimmune and developmental exceptionalities.  Her son’s healing journey offered hands on experience into how diet, mindfulness, nature, gut-health, and proper nutrients have the power to heal.  Watching her son’s incredible recovery ignited a passion to offer EcoWellness to others.

KayEllen McKenzie, RMHCI

Kay graduated from Colorado Christian University with high distinction in 2020 and has worked extensively with adolescents at PACE Center for Girls in Orange Park. She has two beautiful, grown children, a husband that she enjoys traveling and nature with, and has served many years in her church organizing and running group programming for adults and adolescents.

Kay believes that counseling should support the whole person – body, mind, and spirit, and that each person is the expert on themselves. She sees her role as helping them explore their inner strengths and resources and apply them to current life challenges as well as their development in becoming their best self. She enjoys working with teens and adults, using Positive CBT, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques to help individuals build practical and effective coping skills. Being in nature has always been central to her own health, and she looks forward to helping others along their own healing journey.  Kay will be providing all direct therapeutic services at Connections UnPlugged under clinical supervision while completing her 2-year post graduate hours to become a Florida Board Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
